ASSOCIATION FOR RESEARCH ON NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND VOLUNTARY ACTION (ARNOVA) HOLDS ANNUAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE

The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) held its annual research conference in Toronto, Canada, October 28 - 30, 1993. ARNOVA is an international association numbering about 350 scholars and practitioners with an interest in all aspects of nonprofit organizations, voluntary action, and philanthropy. The Association publishes the leading journal in this field, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly (NVSQ).

The 1993 ARNOVA conference featured panels and sessions organized in five main tracks: Voluntarism and Voluntary Action, Third Sector Issues, Nonprofit Organization and Management, Philanthropy and Fund Raising, and International and Comparative Voluntary Sector Studies. In all, the conference had 46 panel sessions and more than 125 research presentations. About 250 scholars and practitioners attended the conference. A copy of the conference proceedings is available from the ARNOVA Executive Office (address below).

Next year's ARNOVA research conference will be held October 20 - 22, 1994, at the lovely Berkeley Marina, California (Forgive me, I'm from Berkeley). Members of ARNOVA as well as non-members are invited to submit proposals for papers or panels by April 15, 1994. Proposals will be evaluated on a competitive basis. Please submit proposals to the address below.

Membership in ARNOVA entitles holders to a discount on conference registration. Other benefits of ARNOVA membership include: subscription to NVSQ; subscription to Citizen Participation and Voluntary Action Abstracts, a quarterly publication of article abstracts dealing with all facets of voluntary action, nonprofit organizations, and philanthropy; ARNOVA News, a newsletter with announcements, developments, opportunities, and other news in the field; discounts on past quarterlies and special ARNOVA publications; information about related conferences and events; and discounts on other publications, including Nonprofit Management and Leadership.
